Indications
Jardiance (empagliflozin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin. In addition, Jardiance has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with established cardiovascular disease.
Composition
Each Jardiance tablet contains 25 mg of empagliflozin as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Jardiance is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to empagliflozin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of recurrent urinary tract infections, as well as in those with decreased kidney function. It is important to monitor kidney function before and during treatment. The risk of dehydration should be assessed, especially in older patients or those with other conditions that favor fluid loss.
Storage
Store the medication at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
