Indications
Jardiance (Empagliflozin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin. In addition, it has been shown to reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
Composition
Each Jardiance tablet contains 10 mg of Empagliflozin as the active ingredient. Excipients: corn starch, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Jardiance is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to empagliflozin or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Likewise, it is contraindicated in individuals with severe renal disease (Glomerular Filtration Rate < 30 ml/min).
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of recurrent urinary tract infections and in those who have risk factors for dehydration. It is advisable to monitor renal function before and during treatment. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women without adequate medical supervision.
Storage
Store Jardiance in its original packaging, at room temperature (15 - 30 °C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
