Indications
Jardiance (empagliflozin) is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control. This medication can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics and/or insulin. Empagliflozin works by inhibiting the sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2), which reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, facilitating its elimination through urine and, consequently, lowering blood glucose levels. Additionally, Jardiance has shown benefits in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
Composition
Each Jardiance tablet contains 10 mg of empagliflozin as the active ingredient. Excipients: [detail excipients if information is available].
Contraindications
Jardiance is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to empagliflozin or any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min) and in those undergoing dialysis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of urinary tract infections, dehydration, or kidney problems. Renal function monitoring is advised at the start of treatment and throughout. In patients over 65 years of age, more frequent monitoring should be considered due to a higher risk of adverse effects.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
