Indications
Irbesartan is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is also used in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy and hypertension, with the aim of reducing the risk of renal disease progression and cardiovascular events. The medication works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, which causes blood vessel dilation and a reduction in blood pressure. The use of Irbesartan should be part of a comprehensive approach that includes lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Composition
Each Irbesartan 150 mg tablet contains: Irbesartan 150 mg as active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Irbesartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of angioedema associated with treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs). It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Irbesartan in patients with renal artery stenosis, renal impairment, hepatic impairment, or in those who are dehydrated or receiving diuretic treatment. Renal function and potassium levels should be monitored, especially at the beginning of treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
