Indications
Invokana Duo is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication helps improve glycemic control in patients whose diet and exercise alone are not enough to control blood glucose. It is used in combination with other oral antidiabetics or as monotherapy in patients who cannot achieve glycemic control goals. Additionally, the combination of Canagliflozin and Metformin has been shown to provide additional benefits in reducing body weight and improving renal function, which is especially relevant in overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes.
Composition
Each Invokana Duo tablet contains 150 mg of Canagliflozin and 850 mg of Metformin as active ingredients. It also contains excipients necessary for the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
Invokana Duo is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of diabetic ketoacidosis. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, liver failure, or those undergoing dialysis treatment. It is also contraindicated in patients with conditions that could increase the risk of dehydration.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Invokana Duo in patients with a history of recurrent urinary tract infections, as well as in those with a history of pancreatitis. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment, as the use of this medication may affect renal function. Patients should be informed about the signs and symptoms of ketoacidosis, and advised to discontinue treatment and seek medical attention if they experience these symptoms.
Storage
Invokana Duo should be stored in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
