Indications
Invokana Duo is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control. This medication is suitable for patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control through metformin monotherapy or who require additional treatment. The combination of canagliflozin and metformin helps reduce blood glucose levels by inhibiting renal glucose reabsorption and improving insulin sensitivity, respectively.
Composition
Each Invokana Duo tablet contains 150 mg of canagliflozin and 1000 mg of metformin.
Contraindications
Invokana Duo is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, in those with severe kidney disease, in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, and in those with severe liver failure. It should not be used in patients with conditions that may cause significant dehydration.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients at risk of urinary tract infections, those with a history of bone fractures, and in patients over 65 years of age. It is essential to monitor kidney function before and during treatment. Additionally, care should be taken in patients receiving diuretics, as they may increase the risk of dehydration.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
