Indications

Invanz is indicated for the treatment of complicated bacterial infections in adults and adolescents. It is effective in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, community-acquired pneumonia, and in the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections. Its use is also suitable for infections in patients with comorbidities and those at risk of complications. Ertapenem acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria.

Composition

Each vial of Invanz contains 1 g of ertapenem as an active ingredient, in addition to appropriate excipients for its formulation and preservation.

Contraindications

Invanz is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ertapenem or any of the components of the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins or cephalosporins.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures or neurological disorders, as well as in those with severe kidney disease, as dose adjustment is required. During treatment with ertapenem, renal function should be monitored and liver function tests should be performed if treatment extends beyond the recommended period.

Storage

Invanz should be stored at controlled room temperature between 15°C and 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
