Indications
Innefol is indicated in patients requiring treatment with folinic acid, especially in situations of folate deficiency, such as in patients with macrocytic anemia or in the prevention of toxicity associated with certain chemotherapeutic agents. This medication is used in rescue therapy in patients treated with methotrexate, as well as in those with folate malabsorption. Additionally, it is used in the prevention and treatment of high-dose methotrexate toxicity, and in the recovery of hematological function after chemotherapy. It can also be useful in the treatment of pyrimidine toxicity and for the treatment of some neurological disorders that require the administration of folinic acid.
Composition
Each Innefol ampule contains 50 mg of folinic acid (5-formyl-tetrahydrofolic acid) in a volume of 4 ml.
Contraindications
Innefol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to folinic acid or to any of the excipients of the medication. It should not be used in the presence of untreated pernicious anemia because folinic acid does not correct vitamin B12 deficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Innefol to patients with a history of kidney disease, liver disease, or those receiving other medications that may alter the absorption or metabolism of folinic acid. It is important to monitor folate levels and clinical response during treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
