Indications
Inhibitron is indicated for the treatment of various conditions related to excessive gastric acid production. It is used for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics. It is also indicated in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and for the prevention of ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in high-risk patients. Omeprazole acts by inhibiting the proton pump in the parietal cells of the stomach, which results in a decrease in acid secretion and an increase in gastric pH.
Composition
Each Inhibitron capsule contains 20 mg of omeprazole as an active ingredient, as well as excipients suitable for the capsule formulation.
Contraindications
Inhibitron is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to omeprazole or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other proton pump inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Inhibitron to patients with severe liver disease, as dose adjustments may be required. Likewise, the risk of gastrointestinal infections should be considered, as the reduction of gastric acid can predispose to some infections. It is important to monitor patients receiving long-term treatment, as long-term use of proton pump inhibitors may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date indicated on the package.
