Indications
Iltux (Olmesartan) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system, which results in the dilation of blood vessels, thus reducing blood pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensives. This medication is especially useful in patients with hypertension who have cardiovascular risk factors, such as diabetes mellitus or chronic kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure during treatment is important to evaluate its effectiveness.
Composition
Each Iltux tablet contains 40 mg of olmesartan medoxomil as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and others.
Contraindications
Iltux is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to olmesartan or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs). Likewise, it is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of renal insufficiency, liver disease, and in those who are being treated with diuretics. It is important to adjust the dose in elderly patients and monitor renal function. Renal function tests are recommended before and during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
