Indications
Hyzaar is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with documented left ventricular hypertrophy. The combination of losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic, provides a synergistic effect in lowering blood pressure, promoting a better therapeutic response.
Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains:
- Losartan: 100 mg
- Hydrochlorothiazide: 12.5 mg
Contraindications
Hyzaar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any component of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or in those with anuria or severe renal failure.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with hepatic or renal insufficiency, or in those who are being treated with diuretics. It is advisable to monitor renal function and serum electrolytes, especially in elderly patients or those with prior dehydration. During pregnancy and lactation, the risk-benefit of the treatment should be evaluated.

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
