Indications
Granuven (Filgrastim) is indicated for the treatment of patients with neutropenia (reduction of neutrophils in the blood) associated with cytotoxic chemotherapy. It is also used in patients with congenital, cyclical, or idiopathic neutropenia, as well as in patients requiring bone marrow transplantation. Additionally, it may be indicated in situations of neutropenia associated with infections or in HIV patients with low neutrophil counts. The main objective of Granuven is to reduce the risk of infections in these patients by increasing white blood cell production.
Composition
Each syringe contains Filgrastim, a recombinant protein that acts as a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor. The formulation includes excipients that allow for its stability and efficacy.
Contraindications
Granuven is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Filgrastim or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia or those with conditions that alter bone marrow function.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of respiratory diseases, as the use of Filgrastim may be associated with the appearance of pulmonary complications. Likewise, the patient's white blood cell count and hematologic function should be monitored during treatment. It should not be administered simultaneously with chemotherapy that affects bone marrow without medical supervision.
Storage
Granuven should be stored refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and use before the expiration date indicated on the package.
