Indications
Glypressin (terlipressin) is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding due to esophageal varices, as well as for the treatment of acute renal failure secondary to gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis. This medication acts as a vasopressin analog, promoting vasoconstriction of mesenteric blood vessels and reducing portal pressure, which helps control bleeding. In addition, it is used in the therapy of patients with hepatorenal syndrome, improving renal function and increasing survival in treated patients.
Composition
Each ampule of Glypressin contains 1 mg of terlipressin, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Glypressin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to terlipressin or any of its excipients. Likewise, its use is contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure, uncontrolled arterial hypertension, severe coronary artery disease, and during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly indicated.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Glypressin in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or those who are being treated with other medications that may affect blood pressure. It is essential to monitor blood pressure and renal function during treatment. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of thromboembolism.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
