Indications

Calcium gluconate is used for the prevention and treatment of hypocalcemia, as well as for the correction of electrolyte imbalances. It is indicated in cases of hypoparathyroidism, osteomalacia, and in situations of metabolic acidosis. It is also used in the prophylaxis of diseases related to calcium deficiency, as well as in the administration of parenteral solutions to maintain mineral balance. In the clinical context, it can be used to treat magnesium toxicity, as well as in emergency situations in patients with low serum calcium levels.

Composition

Each 10 mL of solution contains 1 g of calcium gluconate, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the injectable solution.

Contraindications

Calcium gluconate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to calcium gluconate or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with hypercalcemia, severe heart disease, and those with severe cardiac arrhythmias.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering calcium gluconate to patients with renal insufficiency, heart disease, or those being treated with digitalis. It is recommended to monitor serum calcium levels during treatment and adjust the dose as necessary.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
