Glimetal Lex is a medication indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is used as a complementary therapy to an adequate diet and physical exercise to improve glycemic control in patients who do not achieve desired blood glucose levels with metformin alone. This medication combines two active ingredients, Glimepiride, which acts by increasing insulin secretion by the pancreas, and Metformin, which improves insulin sensitivity and decreases hepatic glucose production. Glimetal Lex is especially useful in obese patients with type 2 diabetes who require more intensive control of their glucose levels.
Composition
Each tablet of Glimetal Lex contains 2 mg of Glimepiride and 850 mg of Metformin.
Contraindications
Glimetal Lex is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Glimepiride, Metformin or any component of the formula. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal insufficiency or acute kidney disease, as well as in those who have serious cardiac or respiratory diseases.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of renal function is important in patients treated with Glimetal Lex, especially in those over 65 years of age. Caution should be exercised in patients with gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those who may be at risk of hypoglycemia. It is recommended to evaluate the need to adjust the dose in case of changes in health status or concomitant medication.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
