Indications
Gardasil 9 is indicated for the prevention of diseases caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). Specifically, this vaccine is effective against types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58, which are responsible for most cases of cervical cancer, as well as other types of anogenital cancer and genital warts. Vaccination is recommended for boys and girls starting at 9 years of age, as well as for young adults up to 45 years of age. It is important that vaccination occurs before the onset of sexual activity to maximize its effectiveness in preventing HPV infections.
Composition
Each 0.5 ml dose of Gardasil 9 contains:
- HPV L1 viral proteins of types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.
- Other excipients and adjuvants necessary for the vaccine formulation.
Contraindications
Gardasil 9 is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the vaccine components. Caution should also be exercised in individuals who have experienced severe allergic reactions to previous doses of the vaccine.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate patients with acute febrile illness or severe infections before vaccine administration. Additionally, caution should be exercised when administering it to individuals with bleeding disorders or who are undergoing anticoagulant treatment.
Storage
Gardasil 9 should be stored refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
