Indications

Galvus Met is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise. This medication is used in patients who cannot control their blood glucose levels with metformin alone or in those who are already being treated with the combination of vildagliptin and metformin. It is recommended for the management of overweight patients at risk of cardiovascular complications. Galvus Met works by improving glycemic control, decreasing glucose production in the liver, and increasing insulin secretion in response to food intake.

Composition

Each Galvus Met tablet contains 50 mg of vildagliptin and 500 mg of metformin. It also contains excipients such as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, silicon dioxide, and other inert components that allow for the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Galvus Met is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, in those with a history of lactic acidosis, severe renal insufficiency, or in conditions that may compromise renal function. It should not be administered to patients with acute or chronic diseases that may alter renal function.

Precautions

Special caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatic diseases, cardiovascular disease, as well as in those who present dehydration or conditions that may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Regular monitoring of renal function during treatment is important.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
