Indications
Galvus (vildagliptin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics such as metformin or sulfonylureas, as well as in combination with insulin. Its use is intended for patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control with other therapies. Vildagliptin has been shown to help increase insulin levels and decrease glucose production in the liver, which contributes to better glycemic control.
Composition
Each Galvus tablet contains 50 mg of vildagliptin as an active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, among others, which facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Galvus is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or to any of the excipients in the product. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those with liver disease or renal insufficiency. It is advisable to monitor renal function periodically during treatment. The use of Galvus in combination with other DPP-4 inhibitors is not recommended, as its safety and efficacy in this combination have not been evaluated.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
