Indications
Gabirol (Rimantadine) is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of infections caused by the influenza A virus in adults and children over 1 year of age. It is recommended to start treatment within the first 48 hours of symptom onset. In addition, it can be used for the prevention of influenza in individuals who have been in contact with infected people or in situations where there is a high risk of contagion. It is important to mention that it is not effective against the influenza B virus.
Composition
Each Gabirol tablet contains 100 mg of rimantadine as an active ingredient. In addition, it contains excipients that aid in the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rimantadine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency and in those with uncontrolled seizures or seizure disorders.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with central nervous system diseases, as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Monitoring is recommended for patients with a history of heart disease or kidney problems. In case of adverse reactions, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
