Indications
Fucidin Oint 2% is indicated for the treatment of skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including wound infections, impetigo, and folliculitis. It is also used in the treatment of staphylococcal and streptococcal infections, as well as in the management of burns and secondary skin infections. The action of fusidic acid is based on its ability to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis, leading to the pathogen's cell death. It is important that the use of this medication is under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each 100 g of Fucidin Oint 2% contains 2 g of fusidic acid, as well as excipients such as liquid paraffin, microcrystalline wax, and other components that facilitate the ointment's formulation.
Contraindications
Fucidin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fusidic acid or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended for infections caused by fungi or viruses, as it is not effective for these conditions.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when applying Fucidin to large areas of the skin or deep wounds, especially in patients with pre-existing skin conditions. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Prolonged use is not recommended to avoid possible bacterial resistance. It is advisable not to hermetically seal the treated area, allowing proper ventilation to prevent moisture accumulation.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
