Indications
Fossin is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by fosfomycin-sensitive microorganisms, including cystitis and pyelonephritis. This medication works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. It is particularly useful in the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women, as well as in the prophylaxis of postoperative urinary tract infections. Patients presenting with characteristic symptoms of urinary tract infections, such as dysuria, pollakiuria, and lower abdominal pain, are advised to consult their doctor for a proper evaluation and timely treatment.
Composition
Each Fossin capsule contains 500 mg of fosfomycin as fosfomycin trometamol. Excipients: corn starch, magnesium stearate, and gelatin.
Contraindications
Fossin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any component of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless deemed strictly necessary by a doctor and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease or those receiving other medications that may affect kidney function. Adequate monitoring of kidney function during treatment is important. Prolonged use of the medication without the supervision of a healthcare professional is not recommended.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
