Indications
Fossin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial urinary tract infections, including uncomplicated acute cystitis caused by microorganisms sensitive to fosfomycin. Fosfomycin is an antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial death. This medication is particularly useful in cases where rapid and effective treatment is required, due to its good absorption and tissue distribution. Additionally, it can be used in patients who have allergies to other antibiotics, always under appropriate medical supervision.
Composition
Each Fossin capsule contains 500 mg of fosfomycin as fosfomycin trometamol, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.
Contraindications
Fossin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of serious adverse reactions to other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Fossin to patients with a history of kidney disease or those taking other medications that may affect kidney function. Continuous medical monitoring is important during treatment to evaluate the response to treatment and the possible appearance of adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Do not use the medication after the expiration date indicated on the package.
