Indications
Fosfonat is indicated for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women. It is also used to reduce the incidence of vertebral and non-vertebral fractures in patients with osteoporosis. Additionally, ibandronic acid is used in the treatment of hypercalcemia associated with neoplasms. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of bone resorption, which contributes to the improvement of bone mineral density.
Composition
Each tablet contains 150 mg of ibandronic acid. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Fosfonat is contraindicated in patients with hypocalcemia, esophageal diseases that delay esophageal emptying, and in those with known hypersensitivity to ibandronic acid or any component of the formula. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems, as the medication may cause esophageal irritation. Monitoring calcium levels is also recommended in patients with calcium deficiency. In case of symptoms such as chest pain or difficulty swallowing, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
