Indications

Forxiga is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in combination with other oral antidiabetics and/or insulin, with the aim of improving glycemic control. This medication works by inhibiting the sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 (SGLT2) in the kidneys, which results in a decrease in glucose reabsorption and, therefore, a reduction in blood glucose concentration. Forxiga has also been shown to have benefits in reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes and pre-existing cardiovascular disease.

Composition

Each Forxiga tablet contains 10 mg of dapagliflozin, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation.

Contraindications

Forxiga is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dapagliflozin or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus and in those with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate to severe renal insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of urinary tract infections or a history of dehydration. It is important to monitor renal function and blood glucose during treatment. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
