Indications
Forteo Colter (Teriparatide) is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in men and women at high risk of fracture. It is especially useful in patients with a history of fragility fractures or those who have had significant bone mass loss. This medication works by stimulating bone formation, helping to increase bone mineral density and reducing the risk of vertebral and non-vertebral fractures. Teriparatide therapy should be considered in patients who have not responded adequately to other anti-osteoporotic therapies or who have contraindications for their use.
Composition
Each pre-filled Forteo Colter pen contains 250 mcg of Teriparatide, as well as excipients necessary for its proper formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Forteo Colter is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Teriparatide or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of bone cancer or bone metastases, as well as in those with active metabolic bone diseases other than osteoporosis. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular diseases or who have experienced kidney stones. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment. In addition, regular monitoring of bone mineral density and the patient's general bone health is suggested during Teriparatide treatment.
Storage
Store in refrigeration between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light.
