Indications

Fontanivio (Olanzapine) is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. In patients with schizophrenia, it helps reduce both positive and negative symptoms of the disease, improving the patient's quality of life. In the treatment of bipolar disorder, it is effective for managing manic and mixed episodes. This medication acts on dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain, contributing to mood stabilization and the reduction of hallucinations or delusions.

Composition

Each Fontanivio tablet contains 5 mg of olanzapine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as lactose, starch, and other agents to facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medication.

Contraindications

Fontanivio is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olanzapine or any of the excipients present in the formulation. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus or infant. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of agranulocytosis episodes.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and those taking other medications that may affect the central nervous system. It is important to monitor patients for potential side effects, such as weight gain, blood glucose levels, and extrapyramidal manifestations.

Storage

Fontanivio should be stored at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
