Indications
Filarin is indicated for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis in adults. This medication acts as an immunosuppressant, helping to reduce inflammation and joint damage associated with this condition. It can also be used in the treatment of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and certain autoimmune conditions. The use of Filarin is recommended under strict medical supervision, given its side effect profile and the need for regular monitoring.
Composition
Each Filarin tablet contains 20 mg of leflunomide as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the proper formulation of the tablet.
Contraindications
Filarin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to leflunomide or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in pregnant women, as it can cause fetal harm. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe or active hepatic insufficiency, as well as in those with severe or uncontrolled infections.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken when administering Filarin to patients with a history of liver disease, chronic infections, or conditions that may predispose to hematological toxicity. Regular liver function tests and blood counts are essential during treatment. This medication should not be used concomitantly with other immunosuppressants or treatments that may increase the risk of toxicity.
Storage
Filarin should be stored at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
