Indications
Ficonax is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Its use is particularly effective in overweight and obese patients, as well as in those who have not adequately controlled their blood glucose levels through diet and exercise. Ficonax can be administered as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, according to the physician's instructions. This medication helps improve insulin sensitivity and reduce glucose production in the liver, which contributes to the reduction of blood sugar levels.
Composition
Each Ficonax tablet contains 500 mg of metformin as metformin hydrochloride, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
Ficonax is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in patients with severe kidney disease, liver failure, or conditions that may predispose to lactic acidosis, such as severe dehydration, sepsis, or heart failure. Furthermore, it is not recommended in cases of hypoxemia or in patients who are to undergo surgical procedures requiring general anesthesia.
Precautions
Special caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney, liver, or heart disease. It is important to monitor renal function periodically during metformin treatment. Likewise, it is recommended to adjust the dosage in patients over 65 years of age or in those with conditions that may affect renal function.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 15°C and 30°C, out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
