Indications
Fermig (Sumatriptan) is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine, with or without aura, in adults. Its mechanism of action is based on the selective agonization of serotonin 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors, which causes vasoconstriction of dilated blood vessels in the brain, thereby relieving migraine pain. It is recommended to administer a dose in the early stages of a migraine attack for better pain control. If symptoms persist, a second dose may be administered after at least 2 hours, not exceeding the maximum recommended dose of 200 mg in a 24-hour period. It is important to note that Fermig is not indicated for migraine prevention, but exclusively for acute treatment.
Composition
Each tablet contains 50 mg of Sumatriptan as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Fermig should not be used in patients with a history of known hypersensitivity to Sumatriptan or any of the components of the formula. It is contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, or a history of cerebrovascular accident. It is also contraindicated in cases of uncontrolled hypertension.
Precautions
It is essential to consult your doctor before starting treatment. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of epilepsy, liver or kidney diseases. Its use in combination with other triptan medications or with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) is not recommended.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
