Indications

Fermig (Sumatriptan) is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. This medication acts as a selective agonist of serotonin 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors, contributing to the reduction of vasodilation and inflammation associated with migraine. It should be used at the onset of migraine symptoms and is not indicated for migraine prophylaxis.

It is important for the patient to use Fermig only when necessary, and no more than 2 doses within a 24-hour period. If the migraine persists or occurs frequently, a doctor should be consulted to evaluate the treatment regimen.

Composition

Each Fermig tablet contains: 100 mg of Sumatriptan (as Sumatriptan succinate) and excipients necessary for the tablet formulation.

Contraindications

Fermig is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Sumatriptan or any of the formulation components. It should not be administered to patients with coronary artery disease, a history of myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, or those with a history of ischemic cerebrovascular disease. It is contraindicated in situations where a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) has been administered within the last 2 weeks.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Fermig to patients with uncontrolled hypertension, liver or kidney problems. If unusual symptoms occur, such as chest pain or difficulty breathing, immediate medical attention should be sought. Use in pregnant or lactating women should only be done under medical supervision.

Store at room temperature, in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
