Indications
Fenitron is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy, particularly for partial seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is also used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of seizures in patients with epilepsy who do not respond adequately to other treatments. Phenytoin acts by stabilizing hyperexcitable neuronal membranes and decreasing the spread of epileptic activity in the brain. It can also be used in the management of certain types of cardiac arrhythmias and in the treatment of postoperative seizures.
Composition
Each Fenitron tablet contains 100 mg of phenytoin sodium as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow the formulation of the medicine into tablets.
Contraindications
Fenitron is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to phenytoin or to any of the excipients of the medication. Its use should also be avoided in patients with complete heart block and in those with a history of severe skin reactions related to phenytoin.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney diseases, or in those who have experienced adverse reactions to other antiepileptic drugs. It is important to monitor plasma phenytoin levels to avoid toxicity. During treatment, it is recommended to regularly check liver function and hematological status. Patients should be warned about the importance of not discontinuing treatment abruptly.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
