Indications
Femara is indicated for the adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer. It is also used in the treatment of women with advanced breast cancer with progressive disease after tamoxifen therapy. Femara acts as an aromatase inhibitor, reducing estrogen production, which can help decrease the growth of hormone-dependent tumors.
Composition
Each Femara tablet contains 2.5 mg of letrozole as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among other inactive components.
Contraindications
Femara is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to letrozole or any component of the formula. It should not be used in premenopausal women, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding, as it may cause fetal harm and adverse effects in the infant.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Femara to patients with a history of bone disorders, as this medication may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Likewise, it is recommended to monitor patients with liver problems, as impaired liver function may affect the pharmacokinetics of letrozole.
Storage
Femara should be stored at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in its original packaging and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
