Indications
Facidex Total is indicated for the treatment and relief of symptoms associated with gastric hyperacidity, such as heartburn and dyspepsia. This medication combines the action of famotidine, an H2-histamine receptor antagonist that reduces gastric acid production, with magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate, which act as antacids, neutralizing excess stomach acid. Its use is recommended in patients with gastritis, peptic ulcers, and those experiencing gastrointestinal discomfort related to food intake or stressful situations that could exacerbate acid production.
Composition
Each Facidex Total tablet contains:
- Famotidine: 20 mg
- Magnesium Hydroxide: 165 mg
- Calcium Carbonate: 800 mg
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the formula's components. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe kidney disease or those exhibiting symptoms of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those undergoing treatment with other medications that may interact with the components of Facidex Total. It is advisable to monitor kidney function in patients with abnormalities in this organ and in those using the medication for prolonged periods.
