Indications
Facidex Total is indicated for the treatment of gastric disorders related to hyperacidity, such as peptic ulcers, gastritis, and reflux esophagitis. The combination of famotidine, an H2-histamine receptor antagonist, with magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate, which act as antacids, allows for a synergistic action that helps reduce gastric acid production and neutralize excess acidity in the stomach. This medication can also be used to relieve symptoms of dyspepsia and gastrointestinal discomfort associated with heartburn.
Composition
Each Facidex Total tablet contains: 10 mg famotidine, 165 mg magnesium hydroxide, and 800 mg calcium carbonate.
Contraindications
Facidex Total is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease or in those who have conditions that contraindicate the use of antacids.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. It is important to monitor patients undergoing prolonged treatment, as dose adjustments may be required. Furthermore, the possibility of interactions with other medications the patient is taking should be considered.
