Indications
Ezetrol is indicated as an adjunct to a lipid-lowering diet for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) concentrations in adult patients with primary hypercholesterolemia. It is also used in combination with a statin for the treatment of patients with mixed dyslipidemia. Ezetrol works by inhibiting intestinal cholesterol absorption, resulting in a decrease in circulating cholesterol levels and an improvement in the patient's lipid profile. This medication is indicated for patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease who require additional cholesterol reduction, as well as those who fail to achieve their lipid targets with statins alone.
Composition
Each tablet contains 10 mg of Ezetimibe as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Ezetrol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ezetimibe or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations in transaminases. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women without proper medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease, as well as in those taking other medications that may affect lipid metabolism. Regular monitoring of liver enzyme levels during Ezetrol treatment is important, especially in the first months of treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
