Indications
Ezetrol is indicated as an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in adult patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial). This medication is also used in combination with other lipid-lowering treatments, such as statins, in patients with high cardiovascular risk. Its use is recommended in patients who do not achieve their cholesterol targets with diet and adequate physical exercise.
Composition
Each tablet contains:
- Ezetimibe 10 mg.
Contraindications
Ezetrol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ezetimibe or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered in cases of active liver disease or in patients with persistent elevations of serum transaminases. Its use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.
Precautions
Before starting treatment with Ezetrol, liver function tests should be performed. It is important to monitor patients receiving combination therapy with statins, as there is an increased risk of myopathy. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of muscle diseases, as well as in those with moderate renal insufficiency.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
