Indications
Exotib (Ezetimibe) is indicated as an adjunct to an appropriate diet for the reduction of elevated LDL cholesterol and blood lipid levels. It is useful in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, either as monotherapy or in combination with statins in those patients who do not achieve adequate lipid control with statins alone. It is also indicated in patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, in conjunction with an appropriate diet and other treatments, to achieve optimal control of cholesterol levels.
Composition
Each Exotib tablet contains 10 mg of Ezetimibe as an active ingredient. Excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.
Contraindications
Exotib is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ezetimibe or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations of transaminases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those receiving concomitant treatment with statins, due to the risk of myopathy. It is important to monitor transaminase levels before and during treatment. Caution is recommended in elderly patients and in those with severe renal insufficiency.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
