Indications
Exforge is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. This medicine combines two active ingredients, amlodipine and valsartan, which act synergistically to reduce blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that helps relax blood vessels, while valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that also contributes to lowering blood pressure. Exforge can be used in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy.
Composition
Each Exforge tablet contains:
- Amlodipine (5 mg)
- Valsartan (320 mg)
Contraindications
Exforge is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor antagonists. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, as well as in those with renal artery stenosis. It is important to monitor blood pressure regularly during treatment with Exforge and adjust the dose if necessary. Additionally, the use of this medication should be considered with caution in patients who have conditions that increase the risk of hypotension.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
