Indications
Exforge is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. This medication combines two antihypertensive agents: amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. The combination of both medications allows for effective blood pressure reduction, thus improving control in patients who do not achieve adequate hypertension management with monotherapy. Additionally, Exforge can be used in patients who require additional treatment to reach their blood pressure goals.
Composition
Each tablet contains: 5 mg of Amlodipine (as besylate) and 320 mg of Valsartan.
Contraindications
Exforge is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, in those with a history of angioedema associated with the use of ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor antagonists, in patients with severe aortic stenosis, and in those with severe hepatic impairment.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal impairment, ischemic heart disease, or heart failure. It is important to monitor blood pressure and renal function during treatment with Exforge. Additionally, use in pregnant or lactating women should be carefully evaluated, as there may be adverse effects on the fetus or infant.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
