Indications
Exforge is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. The combination of amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, acts synergistically to reduce blood pressure. This medication can be used as initial treatment in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy. Additionally, it is suitable for patients who require additional treatment to achieve optimal hypertension control. It should be considered that hypertension management must be individualized, and it is the physician's responsibility to determine the most appropriate therapy for each patient.
Composition
Each Exforge tablet contains: 5 mg of amlodipine (as besylate) and 160 mg of valsartan.
Contraindications
Exforge is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment, bilateral renal artery stenosis, and during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of angioedema, renal or heart failure, and in those being treated with diuretics. Blood pressure and kidney function should be monitored during treatment. Use in elderly patients may require dose adjustments and additional monitoring.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
