Indications
Exetin (Erythropoietin) is indicated for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic kidney failure, as well as in patients receiving chemotherapy for certain types of cancer. It is also used to increase red blood cell production in patients with anemia associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and in those undergoing treatments that affect the bone marrow. Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein that stimulates red blood cell production in the bone marrow, which improves hemoglobin levels and, therefore, the body's ability to transport oxygen.
Composition
Each ampoule of Exetin contains recombinant human Erythropoietin equivalent to 4000 Units/mL, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, known allergy to erythropoietin or any of the components of the formulation, as well as in those with anemia not associated with kidney failure or specific treatment conditions. It should not be administered to patients who have experienced previous adverse reactions to products containing erythropoietin.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or thromboembolism. It is important to regularly monitor hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, as well as blood pressure during treatment. Dose adjustment is recommended based on clinical response and laboratory results.
Storage
Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep away from light and heat sources. Once opened, the product must be used within a specific period, according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
