Indications

Exbuten (Apixaban) is indicated for the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, as well as for the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients who have already been treated with injectable anticoagulants. This medication acts as a direct factor Xa inhibitor, which interferes with blood coagulation and helps prevent clot formation.

Composition

Each Exbuten tablet contains 5 mg of Apixaban as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Exbuten is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to apixaban or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with significant active bleeding or in those with bleeding disorders that increase the risk of bleeding. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment or in those requiring concomitant treatment with certain medications that may increase the risk of bleeding.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of bleeding, liver disease, or those being treated with other anticoagulants. Renal function should be assessed before starting treatment and during its use. Patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of bleeding, especially during the first few weeks of treatment.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
