Indications
Everest (Montelukast) is indicated for the treatment and control of asthma in patients 6 months of age and older. It is also used for the relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm. This medication acts as a leukotriene receptor antagonist, helping to reduce inflammation and constriction of the airways.
Composition
Each Everest tablet contains 4 mg of Montelukast as an active ingredient. Excipients include microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, and other inactive components necessary for tablet formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in cases of acute asthma attacks or in patients requiring long-term oral corticosteroid treatment.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of psychiatric illnesses, as cases of behavioral changes and suicidal thoughts have been reported. Liver function should be evaluated in patients with known abnormalities in this area. This medication should not substitute corticosteroids in asthma treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
