Indications
Eutirox is indicated for the treatment of hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. This medication is also used in the treatment of goiter, as well as in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of thyroid carcinoma. Levothyroxine sodium, its active ingredient, acts as a replacement or supplement for thyroid hormone, helping to regulate metabolism and other bodily processes that require this hormone.
It is important that the dosage is adjusted individually according to the patient's needs and under appropriate medical supervision. Regular monitoring of hormone levels is recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
Composition
Each Eutirox tablet contains 112 mcg of levothyroxine sodium as the active ingredient. In addition, it contains excipients such as lactose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Eutirox is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levothyroxine or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with untreated thyroid diseases, such as hyperthyroidism, and in those with untreated adrenal insufficiency. Its use in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases should be carefully evaluated.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Eutirox to patients with heart disease, diabetes mellitus, or intestinal absorption problems. It is essential to inform the doctor about any other medications the patient is taking, as interactions may occur. Furthermore, its use during pregnancy and lactation should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
