Indications
Eskazole (Albendazole) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by intestinal parasites such as Enterobius vermicularis (pinworms), Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworms), Ancylostoma duodenale, and Necator americanus (hookworms). It is also effective in the treatment of infections by Taenia solium (taeniasis) and other tapeworms, as well as in the prevention of infections by Echinococcus granulosus (hydatid cysts). Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of tubulin polymerization, which in turn interferes with microtubule formation and affects the motility and reproduction of parasites, leading to their elimination from the body.
Composition
Each Eskazole tablet contains 400 mg of Albendazole as the active ingredient. Excipients: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Eskazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Albendazole or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with severe liver disease, as Albendazole is metabolized in the liver. Furthermore, medical monitoring is important in case of prolonged treatment to assess possible adverse effects. Its use is not recommended in children under 2 years of age without medical supervision.
Storage
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
