Indications

Epival ER is indicated for the treatment of various neurological conditions, including:

  • Epilepsy: used as monotherapy or in combination with other anticonvulsants for the control of partial and generalized seizures.
  • Bipolar disorder: indicated for the treatment of manic episodes and the prevention of manic episodes in patients with bipolar disorder.
  • Migraine prevention: can be used in the prophylaxis of migraines in certain patients.

Divalproex sodium works by stabilizing the brain's electrical activity and regulating neurotransmitters, which helps control seizure episodes and stabilize mood in patients with affective disorders.

Composition

Each Epival ER tablet contains:

  • Divalproex sodium: 250 mg.
  • Excipients: additives necessary for the formulation and stability of the product.

Contraindications

The use of Epival ER is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Known hypersensitivity to valproate or any of the components of the formula.
  • Patients with severe liver disease or a history of severe liver dysfunction.
  • Urea cycle disorders.

Precautions

Special precautions should be taken in the following cases:

  • Patients with a history of hematological disorders, as it may cause coagulation alterations.
  • Women of childbearing age should consider the risks of teratogenicity if used during pregnancy.
  • Regular monitoring of serum valproate levels, liver function, and complete blood count.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30°C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
