Indications

Epival is indicated for the treatment of various forms of epilepsy, in both adults and children. It is effective in partial and generalized seizures, as well as in the treatment of bipolar affective disorder and the prevention of migraines. Its anticonvulsant action is achieved through the modulation of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system.

Composition

Each tablet contains: 500 mg of Semisodium Valproate and excipients necessary for its formulation.

Contraindications

Epival is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valproate or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with severe hepatic disorders, acute pancreatitis, or a history of valproate-related liver disease. It is contraindicated during pregnancy, unless strictly necessary and under appropriate medical supervision.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with a history of liver disease, hematological disorders, or those receiving other medications that may affect liver function. Regular monitoring of valproate blood levels, as well as liver and hematological function, is recommended during treatment. It may cause adverse effects on the central nervous system, so driving vehicles or operating heavy machinery should be avoided until its effect on the patient is known.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep away from direct light and out of reach of children.
