Indications

Entresto is indicated for the treatment of chronic heart failure in adult patients with reduced ejection fraction. This medication combines sacubitril, a neprilysin inhibitor, and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker. The combination of these two components improves cardiac function and reduces the risk of hospitalization and cardiovascular death in patients with heart failure.

Furthermore, this therapy has been shown to reduce heart failure-related symptoms such as dyspnea and fatigue, thereby improving patients' quality of life. It is recommended that the use of this medication be part of a comprehensive approach that includes lifestyle changes and other medical treatments as indicated by the physician.

Composition

Each Entresto tablet contains 100 mg of sacubitril and 160 mg of valsartan, in addition to excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and other inactive components that aid in tablet formulation.

Contraindications

Entresto is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers, as well as in those with severe hepatic impairment. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with renal impairment, hypovolemia, or those using other antihypertensive medications. It is essential to monitor blood pressure and electrolyte levels during treatment.
