Indications
Enhertu (Trastuzumab Deruxtecan) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with HER2-positive breast cancer who have previously received at least two anti-HER2 treatments. This medication is used in cases of metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer where the disease has progressed during or after treatment with trastuzumab and chemotherapy. Additionally, it is considered for patients with HER2-positive gastric or esophageal cancer where resistance to other treatments has been documented. Enhertu acts as an antibody-drug conjugate, directing the chemotherapeutic agent directly to tumor cells that express the HER2 antigen, which improves efficacy and reduces systemic toxicity.
Composition
Each Enhertu ampoule contains Trastuzumab Deruxtecan as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that allow for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
Enhertu is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Trastuzumab Deruxtecan or any of its components. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe adverse reactions to other medications containing trastuzumab.
Precautions
Special caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing lung diseases, as cases of pulmonary toxicity have been reported. Regular monitoring of lung function is recommended during treatment. Furthermore, cardiac function should be evaluated before starting treatment, given the potential risk of cardiac dysfunction. Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during treatment and for up to six months after the last dose.
Storage
Enhertu should be stored in its original packaging, protected from light and at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
