Indications
Emgality (galcanezumab) is indicated for the preventive treatment of migraine in adults. This medication acts as a monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), a neurotransmitter that has been identified as a key factor in the pathophysiology of migraine. Emgality administration can reduce the frequency of migraine attacks and improve the quality of life for patients suffering from this condition. The efficacy of the medication has been evaluated in clinical trials, showing a significant decrease in the number of migraine days compared to placebo.
Composition
Each pen contains galcanezumab 120 mg/ml, in addition to excipients necessary for the drug formulation.
Contraindications
Emgality is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to galcanezumab or any component of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of anaphylactic reactions to similar medications.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions. Careful monitoring is recommended in patients who experience allergy symptoms after drug administration. The safety and efficacy of Emgality in patients under 18 years of age have not been established. Emgality administration has not been studied in pregnant or breastfeeding women, so the risk-benefit must be assessed before use in these populations.
Storage
Store in refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
